Cambodia end their 2016 AFC Under-23 Championship qualifying campaign on a high, defeating the pointless Philippines 3-1 for their first win (31 March 2015) - however, both nations failed to advance from Group G.

While Singapore and Mongolia played out a 2-2 draw in their final Asian Football Confederation Under-23 Championship group qualifier on Tuesday (31st March) in Vientiane, Laos.

With qualification for the AFC Under-23 Championship - Cambodia and the Philippines were playing for pride.

Both teams had yet to win a game going into the final matchday in Bangkok.

The opening goal wasn't long in coming, Chan Vathanakha with the free-kick in the 6th minute.

Although on reflection the Filipino goalie will surely feel he could have done better.

Vathanakha doubled the Cambodians lead in the 10th minute, bursting away from the defence.

And five minutes later, Soeuy Visal gave the men in blue something breathing space making it 3-0.

The Philippines did manage a consolation in second half stoppage time, yet it was all too late for both as they go out at the qualifying stage.

The other game on Tuesday saw Singapore take on Mongolia in Group A.

Mongolia were already eliminated after conceding 12 goals in two games, while Singapore needed a win to have a chance of qualifying for the final.

The Mongolians got off to a great start with Mungunshagai Tsogtbaatar netted their first goal of the competition.

However Singapore were soon back on level terms - Irfan Fandi heading home.

Mongolia went back in front just before half time, however, it was Singapore who had the last word.

Despite this, the 2-2 draw wasn't good enough for Singapore as they join Mongolia with both team crashing out before the finals in Qatar.
