The ticket sales programme for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was revealed on Thursday (31st March).

Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Donovan Ferreti, Rio 2016 ticketing director:

"We have around a million tickets for the international market - and it's good to have big numbers. So, we have around 7.5 million tickets available. Around 70 per cent of those tickets will be exclusive for Brazilians. So of those 30 per cent a million will be available for the international public."

SOUNDBITE (English) Donovan Ferreti, Rio 2016 ticketing director:

"To prevent that problem with full stadia, we are working very closely with the IOC (International Olympic Committee) to make sure that areas will be dimensioned according to the demand. And we will have here a programme that you are resizing the size of that space (venue) space according to the competition phase. So, if for a prelim(inary) we know that you don't have enough demand, we will reduce and put those tickets on sale. For a final, if it they have a demand to use the whole space, in this case it will be available for these client groups."

SOUNDBITE (English) Mario Andrada, Rio 2016 communications director: (On Sao Paulo / Arena Corinthians).

"We are not throwing them out just yet. If they don't agree, if there's no agreement to sign the contract before the launch, we launch the tickets without Sao Paulo and we include Sao Paulo as soon as they sign. Sao Paulo being off the Games is not on the pipeline at the moment... as far as we understand and as far as we have been told by them."
