Kia Classic win ends Kerr's two-year wait

Tuesday, March 31 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Cristie Kerr won her first title in almost two years by taking the LPGA Kia Classic at the Aviara Golf Club.

    Script:

Lydia Ko came into the final round of the Kia Classic four strokes off the lead but the New Zealander sank five birdies on the front nine, including this one,

She wasn't the only one putting pressure on overnight leader Mirim Lee, Cristie Kerr made this birdie to take the outright lead at 18 under.

Ko joined her thanks to this on the 14th.

Mirim picked a bad day to have her worst round of the tournament but she did sink this putt to make it a three-way tie for the lead.

Kerr then pushed on, this birdie on the 14th put her on 19 under,,,

And the American made two more to move three strokes clear.

Mirim then made an eagle on the 16th to close the gap to just one shot.

So pressure on Kerr but she finished off the job, an impressive 65 on the final day from her, a change of coach clearly working as this is her first title in almost two years.
