Rafael Nadal and Stanislas Wawrinka advanced to the third round of the Miami Open following respective wins over Nicolas Almagro and Carlos Berlocq.

Heavy rain and wind brought an early end to Friday's play at the Miami Open.

Before the rain, second seed Rafael Nadal booked his place in the third round.

The Spaniard - a four-time finalist who is still seeking a first Miami Open title - made light work of second round opponent Nicolas Almagro.

Nadal sealed a tight first set 6-4 firing a forehand down the line.

The second set was more one-sided, with Nadal going on to complete a 6-4, 6-2 win.

Stanislas Wawrinka also advanced on Friday, although the Swiss had to do it the hard way, fighting back from a set down.

The world number eight lost a first set tiebreaker to opponent Carlos Berlocq of Argentina, 11-9.

Wawrinka battled back in the second set though, edging it 7-5, and carried that momentum into the third set, winning the decider 6-2 to join Nadal in the next round.
