The Czech player, ranked 328 in the world, lost the first set, yet at double set point on the Halep serve took her chance.

Vaidisova has never won a WTA classified event yet this form was reminiscent of the brilliance that once took Vaidisova all the way to two Grand Slam semifinals and number seven in the world before 2010.

Halep pushed the Czech player around the court and took the decider following an unforced error.

Halep progressing 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to meet rising star Camila Giorgi in round three.
