  • Intro:

WADA director general David Howman not convinced Lance Armstrong has done enough to get his life ban from cycling reduced.

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE: (English), David Howman:

"Well if he statisfied the criteria to go forward and ask for suspension of his ban, the criteria will be carefully looked at, but so far he has not. There has been no consideration being given to it at the present.

(question: Why do you think he hasn't?)

"I'm not sure why he has not done anything, he certainly had plenty of opportunities, including talking to us. But he has not come forward with substantial information that might be helpful to the cycling fraternity."

    SOUNDBITE: (English), David Howman:

"Look I think that's what everybody would hope for, and everybody would hope that he would sit down and explain the whole regime and what they did. He has had that chance, he did not do it before the independent commission that was established by the UCI, he did not do it with USADA, he has not done it with us, and so it's almost too late."

(question: Even though the report said he was given harsher treatment than the other guys who spoke during the investigation?)

"Well if he had been given harsher treatment, one would have expected an appeal. There was no appeal."
