  • Intro:

Simona Halep came from a set down to beat Jelana Jankovic 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

    Script:

Simona Halep came into the Indian Wells final hoping for a third title of the season. But she'd never won a tournament as big as this before and she was second best in the first set against 2010 winner Jelana Jankovic.

The Serb lost just two games...

She broke again early in set two but then Halep, who had not played since Wednesday because Serena Williams pulled out of her semi-final, began to find her rhythm.

There were six breaks in a row in this set, four of them crucially went to Halep.

The Romanian continued to improve in the deciding set, the breaks kept on coming too but Halep held serve in the seventh game. Fittingly her winning point came off Jankovic's serve.

The 23-year-old couldn't hide her delight, this is a huge win, one she said after she would never forget.
