SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Hesson, New Zealand coach:

"It's to a point now where he is unable to bowl. He's unable to bowl, he's in a lot of pain when he bowls. He's fine walking in a straight line but unfortunately, when he bowls it's becoming increasingly uncomfortable to a point where he's unable to carry on.
"Look, he's obviously made a significant impact to get us to this point. He gives us variety, he gives us extra pace and he gives us the ability to attack at various points in the innings. Even though he might not have got as many wickets at his end, he certainly could help create them at others."

SOUNDBITE (English) Brendon McCullum, New Zealand captain:
"It's obviously disappointing for us. Adam has been outstanding for us in that third seamer throughout the tournament. Injuries happen and in the end we have some good cover amongst the squad. I was really disappointed for Adam but he'll remain part of the squad which is good because he's a good team man, a good fella to have around. It's disappointing his tournament as such has ended but I'm sure we'll come up with a suitable replacement."

SOUNDBITE (English) AB de Villers, South Africa captain:
"The nice thing is it's something of the past (two defeats) and we find ourselves in the semifinal of a World Cup having played a really good game in the quarters. So a lot of confidence behind us. Feel the team is in a really good space and a really good time. We've got a lot of reason to be confident for tomorrow's game."
