  • Intro:

Reaction after Wales beat Italy 61-20 in Rome on Saturday (21st March), with George North scoring a hat-trick of tries in the second half.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Warren Gatland, Wales head coach: (on their second half performance)

"I just think that we spoke at half-time about being a bit more accurate and making sure we just raised the tempo, but everyone talks about first halves and second halves in international rugby but when you're playing, it doesn't matter who you are playing against it's difficult to put a team away in the first half, we were under a bit of pressure at scrum time in the first half and we conceded a penalty from the kick off, so it was a bit messy and thought that Italy really slowed the game down. If you look at how slow they were walking to halfway and the number of players going down injured, so was really hard for us to get some tempo in that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Warren Gatland, Wales head coach:

"We thought that if we, you know, beforehand that if we won by forty points we would give ourselves a chance and fifty you might have been putting a real pressure on the other two teams. So we'll just have to wait and see, I'm not sure if forty points is going to be enough."
