  • Intro:

Novak Djokovic did not have to hit a ball to reach the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Thursday (19th March) while Andy Murray beat Feliciano Lopez in straight sets.

    Script:

Novak Djokovic may never have an easier route into the semi-finals of a tournament; Bernard Tomic was due to play the world number one in the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, but a wisdom tooth complaint and back pain saw him pull out several hours before the match.

With Djokovic waiting in the semi-finals, Andy Murray looked in good form against Feliciano Lopez having beaten the Spaniard in all nine of their previous meetings.

Murray broke for a 3-1 lead and then eased to the first set 6-3.

Lopez needed a flash of inspiration to save a break point in the opening game of the second set, but Murray broke to lead 1-0, and the Scot broke again with an audacious lob to lead 5-2.

Murray served to win 6-3 6-4 and make it 10 out of 10 against Lopez.

The win was Murray's 497th on the men's tour which saw him overtake Tim Henman for most victories by a British player in the Open era.
