Indian Wells: Federer advances

Thursday, March 19 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

There are wins for Roger Federer, Jack Sock, Rafael Nadal, Gilles Simon, Tommy Robredo and Milos Raonic at the BNP Paribas Open in California, America.

    Script:

Second seed Roger Federer defeated Andreas Seppi 6-3 6-4 to progress to the Indian Wells last 16.

Last year's runner-up is bidding for an unprecedented fifth BNP Paribas Open title and now faces American Jack Sock in the next round.

The world number 58 shocked world number 16 Roberto Bautista Agut with a 3-6 6-3 6-2 victory.

Sock is contesting his first tournament since undergoing hip surgery in December and reaches the fourth round at an ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time.

Third seed Rafael Nadal overcame American Donald Young 6-4 6-2 to avoid a repeat of last year's third round exit in California.

The Spaniard now has Gilles Simon standing in the way of a quarter-final place.

Nadal's compatriot Tommy Robredo defied his world number 19 ranking to beat 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 1-6 7-5.

Lying in wait for the 32-year-old is Milos Raonic, who eliminated last year's semi-finalist Alexandr Dolgopolov 7-6 6-4.
