The 50th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico came to an end on Tuesday with an individual time trial over a ten-kilometre course around the streets of San Benedetto del Tronto.

Adriano Malori, who won stage one's individual time trial, set the early pace on stage seven - the Italian moving into provisional first place with a time of 11 minutes and 27 seconds.

Belarusian rider Vasil Kiryienka finished five seconds off Malori's pace, but both riders dropped down a place when Trek Factory Racing's Fabian Cancellara crossed the line in 11 minutes, 23.

There would be no changes to the top three after that, with Swiss Cancellara - the winner here in 2008 - taking the stage honours ahead of Malori and Kiryienka.

However, there were still vital seconds to be won and lost in the overall standings, with the top riders setting off in reverse order and leader Nairo Quintana starting last.

As it was though, there were no changes amongst the top five.

Defending champion Alberto Contador finished in fifth, 39 seconds off the winning time, while France's Thibaut Pinot took fourth, four seconds quicker than Contador, but four seconds behind Colombian Rigoberto Uran in third.

Dutchman Bauke Mollema had to be content with second place overall, 18 seconds behind Quintana.

Runner-up last year, the Colombian wasn't to be denied this time around - topping the final standings to clinch his first Tirreno-Adriatico title.

Quintana finished the final stage in 51st place, 55 seconds off the winning time of Cancellara.
