Fisher Jr. continues South African dominance at African Open

    Trevor Fisher Jnr triumphs on home soil, taking a five-shot victory at the Africa Open on Sunday (8th March).

    Script:

    Trevor Fisher Jr. went into the final round of the African Open with two shot lead over Matt Ford, hoping to secure his maiden European Tour title.

    In additi1on, victory would ensure that home dominance continued at the East London Golf Club.

    South Africans have now won eight consecutive editions of the tournament since it began in 2008.

    In fact, this year's edition would prove to be no different as Fisher Jr produced an excellent round of 64 to pull away from his challengers.

    He ended the tournament on 24-under-par, five shots clear of Matt Ford who went round the course in 67 to finish second on 19-under.

    Third place meanwhile saw a three-way tie between Eduardo de la Riva, Jorge Campillo and Morten Orum Madsen.

    They all carded final round of 66 to end three shots further back from second on 16-under.

    Despite their best effort, the day belonged to Trevor Fisher Jr. proudly lifted the trophy for his first European Tour victory.
