The USA kept their Davis Cup hopes alive with a thrilling five-set victory over Great Britain in Saturday's (7th March) doubles rubber in Glasgow, Scotland.

    Script:

Following Great Britain's victory in both Davis Cup World Group singles matches against USA, it fell to doubles duo Bob and Mike Bryan to keep the USA in the first-round tie on Saturday.

The top-ranked brothers came up against determined opposition in Jamie Murray and his partner Dominic Inglot.

All went according to plan for the Americans in the first two sets, as Murray struggled to hold serve and was broken four times as the Bryan brothers, opened up a 6-3, 6-2 lead in the first and second..

The match changed in the third set when Murray held on to his service game at last, and the British duo went on to break the Americans in the fourth game and they closed out the set 6-3.

The Britons then had to work hard to hold their service games early in the fourth set, but refused to bow to American pressure.

The set went all the way to a tie-break, with the British pair turning a 5-3 deficit into a 10-8 win - forcing the match into a deciding fifth set.

The Bryans have never lost after being two sets up - but the unthinkable looked possible.

With the set standing at seven games all, the brave British duo finally cracked and allowed the Bryans to break.

It was a costly error as the Americans finished the job in the next game, serving out to clinch the set - and victory - by nine games to seven.

Their win means that the USA now trail 2-1 in the tie, and the first-round winner will be decided by Sunday's two reverse singles,

Andy Murray will face John Isner and James Ward takes on Donald Young in hopefully another exciting match.
