  • Intro:

France completed a 3-0 win over Germany in the Davis Cup World Group first round on Saturday (7th March), following a straight-sets win in the men's doubles for Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut.

    Script:

After Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon gave France a 2-0 win in the first round of the Davis Cup on Friday, it was the turn of doubles pairing Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut to see if they could follow suit.

The French pair were facing German duo Benjamin Becker and Andre Begemann.

It proved a straightforward match for France with Benneteau and Mahut triumphing 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 49 minutes.

The defeat for Becker and Begemann means the final two singles matches on Sunday will be a mere formality.

Meanwhile, Germany's miserable run against France in the Davis Cup continues with their last victory coming way back in 1938.
