'England poor at World Cup'

Saturday, March 07 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

England's Jos Buttler reflects on a disappointing World Cup campaign, which has featured defeats by Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka and a solitary victory against Scotland. England play Bangladesh on Monday.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Jos Buttler, England wicketkeeper (on the mood in the team):

"It's not the greatest. Obviously we've had some tough games over here, but everyone's very determined to change that around. It's very simple terms - we've got to win two games of cricket to progress to the next stage."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jos Buttler, England wicketkeeper (on what England needs to do to defeat Bangladesh):

"I think freeing ourselves up is something we need to do. We have to win two games of cricket, but we have to have a mindset we are free and we are confident and we go out there and express ourselves."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jos Buttler, England wicketkeeper (on Alex Hales' possible inclusion against Bangladesh):

"I think he's someone who really enjoys the big occasion. That fantastic 100 he got in the World Twenty20 against what turned out to be the champions in that tournament. He's an explosive player. He's a fantastic player and he will be a fantastic player in the future for England. If he gets his chance I'm sure having sat on the sidelines for awhile he's desperate to do well."
