  • Intro:

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers discusses the FA Cup quarter-final visit of Blackburn Rovers, when Reds captain Steven Gerrard is a doubt with a hamstring injury.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (on the fitness of Steven Gerrard):

"We have still got a couple of days to go yet with Steven. He is obviously with the rehabilitation team, so we will assess it in the next couple of days."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (on players spitting and committing dangerous tackles):

"It is certainly something that isn't right in football. Or in any social life, professional life... but certainly on a football field it is not the example we want to... when young kids are watching and people are watching on tele. It is certainly something that is not on and should never be anywhere near a football field."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (on Blackburn Rovers):

"Yeah, very much so. I think that Gary (Bowyer) has done an outstanding job since he has gone in there. He has had a similar sort of pathway to myself in terms of working in youth development so he obviously understands football clubs from the top to the bottom. He has gone in there in very very difficult circumstances and stabilised the club and got everyone sort of on the same pathway really and I think he has done an outstanding job. His team will come, they will be hoping to work well. They have obviously got their first win away from home in, I think it was over four months, during the week in the League so that will give them confidence. For us, we will give them the same respect that we would give Manchester City or any other team. It is a big game. We have made clear our intent in this competition, which was to get to the final and win it and to do that you have got to beat different types of teams and different styles of teams and Blackburn will come and obviously look to make it difficult for us."
