Intro:
Great Britain and the United States of America were on Thursday (5th March) getting prepared for their Davis Cup World Group first-round tie in Glasgow, Scotland.

SOUNDBITE (English) Andy Murray, Great Britain Davis Cup team:
(On playing in home country of Scotland).
"Yeah, I mean that's the nice thing about Davis Cup is obviously sometimes you play away from home in very partisan crowds and hostile atmospheres - and that's very character building. And then when you play in front of the home crowd, it's obviously more helpful. It's nicer, obviously... And yeah, it's always fun and it's not like the rest of the tour when we're travelling around, you don't have the crowd sort of right behind you all of the time like that. Whereas at Davis Cup that's one of the differences that all the players really enjoy."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jim Courier, USA Davis Cup team captain:
(On suggestion tie will go down to 'the wire').
"Well, if you look at it on paper that makes sense, that's where the logic is based on the rankings. But we don't play these matches on paper. Anything goes. We experienced that last year when James Ward upset Sam Querrey, there was a pretty big gap in ranking last year... so we're hoping if there are any upsets of that magnitude that it's on our end this time instead of the Brits."
