    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (Q: Why did you not select Vincent Kompany for this game?)

"Well for the same reason that was Pablo Zabaleta, Kompany, Fernandinho, Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko were playing normally. Because I think that it was important today to refresh the team, mentally and physically, after we played two difficult game. But we did have the squad that we want, so it was a good moment to refresh the team."

(Q: How did Vincent Kompany take the decision not to be picked)

    "Without any problem."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (Q: Was it a difficult decision to make to drop him?)

"It was not difficult because, I repeat, that I felt we needed to refresh the team today and I decided thinking about a lot of things which was for him not to start today."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (Q: Will he return for the match with Burnley?)

"Tomorrow we will work. Thursday and Friday we have (work). We have the weekend free and on Monday we are going to start thinking about the next game."

(Q: You spoke about refreshing the team mentally. Was that important because Vincent's had a lot of criticism recently and you've defended him but is the mental thing part of the game as well which the players need to be shielded from?)

"I repeat, and the reason that I don't want to talk about one player, is that I think the whole team needed to be refreshed."
