The HSBC Women's Champions got underway at the Sentosa Golf Club on Thursday in Singapore.

World number one Lydia Ko of New Zealand managed a total of six birdies - but two bogeys at the third and 15th holes meant she had to settle for a four under par round of 68, two shots behind joint leaders Inbee Park and Yani Tseng.

Park had to wait until the ninth for her first birdie. That set the tone for the South Korean as she went to record five more on the back nine to finish at six under par and take the lead.

Taiwan's Yani Tseng then began to turn on the style managing seven birdies on the course.

The former world number one produced a series of consistent putts to grab a share of the lead after the first day.

The shot of the day was from Lexi Thompson. The American delivered a hole in one with a seven-iron at the 14th. She would finish the first round three under par, with the score of 69, three shots behind the leaders.
