Faulkner: 'Up to selectors whether I play'

  • Intro:

All-rounder James Faulkner expected to return to Australian eleven against Afghanistan at WACA, Perth.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia (about not being able to play so far)

"I'd be lying if i say i wasn't frustrated at the start. Any time you get injured it is a shocking feeling, to do it at the same time as the last time it happened just before the T20 world cup was obviously quite hard to take at the start. Look there wasn't much i could control, after that it was about doing my rehab and i have been in the good hands of physios, team doctors, to get me back in this position, hopefully it all pays off".

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia (about being selected as a bowler or batsman)

"If i get through today I'm pretty sure that i'm going to be picked as an all-rounder, I'm not too sure how many overs they want me to bowl but hopefully i can get through today and that's the main thing for myself and not get too far ahead of myself and leave the selectors with that decision".

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia: (on assessing the defeat against New Zealand)

"I think every time we play a game and things don't go to a plan we assess what's happened. I suppose we do exactly the same when we do have a good game, we assess the good things and bad things to try and improve as a team. We all know that we didn't perform exactly as we would have liked in New Zealand and i suppose that's going to make the team hungrier for the remainder of the tournament".

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia: (on Pat Cummins' injury)

"I haven't spoken to him, to be honest, i haven't seen him. Pretty sure if you asked every single of our bowlers, or all-rounders or even our batsmen they all are going to have a niggle, so that's what the physios are here for, we have got the best in Australia and i'm sure they are doing what they can do to make sure he is back as soon as possible. Whether that is in couple of days, whether that's in a week or i'm not too sure. I actually don't know what's happened to him".
