Sherwood: 'Something has to change'

Tuesday, March 03 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Aston Villa face West Brom at home on Tuesday (3rd March) and Sherwood says "this game against West Brom is everything to us, everything".

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager (Q: You said after the Newcastle United game that you're deliberately putting pressure on the players, that you need to get points from every game?):

"Pressure should be on them already, if they're not feeling the pressure being second-from-bottom in the league, playing for a massive club like Aston Villa, them something is seriously wrong. They need to feel the pressure."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager (Q: Is that the message you're giving to them behind the scenes?):

"You try as much as you can to take the pressure off them, we're in the Premier League, we're in a big league, the best league in the world and they play for a massive football club and the pressure should be on them to keep this club in the league. It certainly is on me I'm feeling it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager (Q: Is it a risky strategy, do you think it could one way or another with the players?):

"No. Well they're not going a good way about it at the moment are they? I've taken the pressure off them. So almost like reverse psychology, you know, we've lost the last seven Premier League games, scored 13 goals all season, something has to change and it has to change very, very soon.".

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager (on relegation fight):

"I think we are very unfortunate to not have any points out of those first two games, but that's where we find ourselves, so we need to move on and we need to move on quickly and first and foremost this game tomorrow night. That's all we're worried about, winning this game tomorrow night, if we do that it will take us out of the relegation zone and we'll never look back."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager (Q: Is there still a belief among the squad that you can get out of the relegation zone?):

"Yeah. One hundred per cent. Everyone believes, there is still enough time, still enough time, it's just about that next win, as soon as we can possibly get it. We're not feeling sorry for ourselves about the games that have gone, we know that we should have got something from those last two games, the reality is that we didn't. So it's onto the next, this game against West Brom is everything to us, everything."
