Ajax gained a sliver of hope in the Dutch title race by defeating Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven 3-1 to reduce the gap at the top of the table to 11 points.

This impassioned derby started at a rollercoaster pace and PSV almost went ahead when Luciano Narsingh played a one-two with Luuk de Jong and tested Jasper Cillessen.

The Amsterdammers' Ricardo Kishna then silenced the Philips Stadion by opening the scoring, thanks in large part to weak handling by Jeroen Zoet.

After the break PSV forward de Jong restored parity with his 20th goal in all competitions this season after Jetro Willems' cross.

But the defending champions regained their lead just over five minutes later thanks to substitute Lasse Schöne's deflected free-kick.

As Phillip Cocu's men poured forward forlornly in search of an equaliser, Ajax sprung a counter-attack which was finished off in style by De Toekomst graduate Anwar El Ghazi; PSV's first home league defeat this season.
