    Script:

Second-seeded David Ferrer of Spain won his fourth Mexico Open title beating top-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan.

After a comeback in the first set by Nishikori, who'd been 3-1 down, Ferrer went on to take it 6-3.

Ferrer then took a 3-0 advantage in the second but Nishikori broke back to make it 3-1.

Nishikori - who rises to a best four in the world - was broken again.

And the Spaniard took the match in an hour and 49 minutes.

The 32-year-old Ferrer has 23 ATP Tour titles, also winning in Qatar in January.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) David Ferrer, Spain:

"Well, I don't know. I think today...tonight I play my best match this week. I play very aggressive without mistakes. Very tough with my mind and very happy for me (to) win here for the fourth time, it's a dream."

His previous Mexico titles came in - in 2010, 2011 and 2012 - on clay.

Sombrero on, trophy in the air - this win caps off a good opening couple of months for the Spaniard's season
