  • Intro:

Reaction following Saturday's (28 February) third round of the Joburg Open at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE (English) Wallie Coetsee, leader:

    (After making birdie at 18).

"You know what, I want to play more. If you give me more holes I want to play more. Yeah, it was... to make that one it's just a kick-start for tomorrow."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Wallie Coetsee, leader:

"Yeah, you need to keep positive - positive mind. But me and my caddie, we're enjoying it out there, and hopefully we can enjoy it tomorrow. I think we will."

SOUNDBITE (English) Steve Webster, tied second:

"Yeah, I made a good birdie at the first - the par five - and then good save at the next, hit a nice shot onto the next and made the putt, nice shot onto the next and made the putt, and just got on a bit of a roll then. Missed a few putts out there to be honest, missed three or four 12-footers which was a bit frustrating. But a lot of really good golf today."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jacques Blaauw, tied second:

(On starting round with four successive birdies).

"No, I was quite cruising on that stage. I was very happy with the start and just unfortunately couldn't keep it going - on the fifth hole I hit it pretty close and just didn't have enough pace."

SOUNDBITE (English) David Howell, tied second:

"The season's got off to a slow start so I came down here for three weeks - so that's the plan. And yeah, so far, so good - just a couple of bad swings each day, but apart from that it's been pretty damn good."

SOUNDBITE (English) Tjaart Van der Walt, tied second:

"Yeah, I think maybe conditions changed a bit here in the last two hours. The wind swelled a bit... it changed direction a bit, so it makes these last couple of holes maybe play a little bit different. But this is the East (Course), we said it early on in the week, it's the better course - you get out early and, you know, maybe no pressure or no media attention you're going to shoot the nice one (round), but you get out there a little bit later and... But this is why we play, you know. Everyone's bunched up, let's see if we can shoot a nice one tomorrow."
