SOUNDBITE: (English) John Carver, Newcastle manager:

"I said to the guys before hand if we win 1-0, and it's a scrappy goal and game, then I will take that, because we were in a situation where we had to get three points today. We have been in a situation where the players, staff, everybody, because we knew how important it was today to get three points, especially with the games coming up, so a huge relief in the dressing room, and thankful for 'Johnny on the spot' to pop up, and do what he does ever so well - Papiss (Cisse) just before half time, so pleased with the result."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager:

"It was a much improved performance today we had far more attacking options, we got the ball wide and crossing the ball, creating chances for Christian Benteke and it will come, we have conceded one shot on target in the first half and we go in 1-0 down so that is a cruel blow, a cruel blow."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa manager:

"The boys really care, they really do care, they are low in there, and I just said that managers try to take the pressure of you. Paul Lambert had been trying to do that all season, I am going to try the other way. I am going to put it on them, we are under pressure here, this is a massive football club with a lot of good people involved who are magnificent, and I think it's time we turn up the pressure. Let's put pressure on ourselves to try and get points in these last few games."
