Perhaps the England cricket team were hoping to take inspiration from the Six Nations leaders, they'll certainly hope this round of touch rugby in training will go some way to improving their own record against top level teams at this World Cup, it's not a must win against Sri Lanka but another defeat would leave them with next to no confidence for the quarter-finals.

SOUNDBITE (English) Chris Woakes, England all-rounder: (On the need to perform well against a team like Sri Lanka)

"Yeah, it's important that we do show up against the big teams. You know, obviously tomorrow is a big game having already lost two in the tournament already. Sri Lanka are a good side, so we know we've got to be on our game tomorrow. As you say, it is important that we do beat the big sides. We want to get through to the quarterfinals and you're going to have to beat big teams on the way. Tomorrow is obviously a big opportunity for us, and we're looking to win it, obviously."

The most crushing of England's defeats came at the ground where they will play this weekend, they insist no scars remain from that thrashing by New Zealand.

(On playing at Wellington Regional Stadium again where they were thumped by New Zealand)

"Yeah, I think exactly that. I think we've got a good opportunity to turn things around really. Obviously last time we were there it didn't exactly go to plan. It's hard to read too much into that game, I suppose. We were pretty poor. We obviously didn't get a total on the board, and Tim Southee bowled exceptionally well, as well. Hopefully we're past that now and put that behind us."
If they can do that it would be a major breakthrough and almost certainly secure their place in the quarter-finals with winable games against Bangladesh and Afghanistan to come.
