  • Intro:

Chelsea captain John Terry believes Nemanja Matic's absence from the English League Cup final is "a big miss" and added on Tuesday that he expects "a tight game" against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insisted they weren't solely focussed on in-form Harry Kane and said "we need to see how to stop him, but of course stop all of Tottenham".

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Terry, Chelsea captain (Q: How big a loss is Nemanja Matic?)
"I think he's a big miss. You take him out of any squad and like anyone he's been a huge part of our success so far this season. There have been many big players that's missed big finals, we've got the squad capable of hopefully dealing with that. So we have to do that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Terry, Chelsea captain (Q: How close a game are you expecting?)
"It's going to be a tight game, over the two games, you look at the two league games, us winning 3-0 at the Bridge, (losing) 5-3 at White Hart Lane. It's going to be a tight game. They're in pretty good form themselves at the moment, we've come off the back of a draw (1-1 against Burnley) going into this game. So we're hungry to bounce back and win the trophy."

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Terry, Chelsea captain (Q: Jose Mourinho's first trophy as Chelsea manager was the League Cup in 2005, could this trophy be another springboard to success in his second stint as manager?)
"I certainly hope so, it certainly meant a lot to us back then. We just spoke about it then, it kind of set us on our way for the season, gave us huge momentum, gave us a taste of success and what winning was all about. It was our first one collectively as a group and it certainly set us on our way."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea goalkeeper (Q: Is the key to beating Spurs stopping Harry Kane?)
"No it's stopping Tottenham. I think of course he's doing very well the last ten or twelve games, I think he's scored almost every game one goal, so yeah we need to see how to stop him, but of course stop all of Tottenham. Because if you stop him maybe there is another guy who can score. So it will be a strong team performance to stop Tottenham and win that title."

SOUNDBITE: (English), Didier Drogba: (Q: What's so special about finals when you step out for Chelsea, is it something different?)
"What is special about finals is when you lose it you always remember it, always, forever. Like the one against Manchester United in Moscow (2008 Champions League final), the one against Tottenham (League Cup final) in 2008, you always remember them."

Q: Is there a feeling of revenge perhaps?
"No, no, no. Ah come on, seven years later revenge? No, no, no, I think they deserved to win that day and I hope that Sunday is going to be different now."
