SOUNDBITE (English) Louis van Gaal, Manchester United coach:

(on the fitness of striker Robin van Persie)

"So we change (Michael) Carrick for van Persie. He has an ankle problem, but I don't think it's very heavy, but an ankle problem takes a long time. That is not one week or two weeks, but we have to wait and see.

(on how disappointing it would be for the club not to finish in the top four)

"When you start a season with the objective to finish in the top four of the league, then it's your objective and you are occupied with that. But we are still there, so I don't know why we are talking about (this), when it is not like that, because we are still there. So, what is the problem?

(on his belief in the team)

"I believe in the team and you have to make a better team out of your players and that is dependent on a lot of aspects. And you cannot control all these aspects. Neither (can) my colleagues Pellegrini (Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini), or Mourinho (Jose Mourinho at Chelsea), or Wenger (Arsene Wenger at Arsenal), you cannot control all these aspects, so every year is different. You are a very good manager if you can cope (with) or manage these aspects."
