Lahiri wins Indian Open play-off

  • Intro:

India's Anirban Lahiri wins his second European Tour title in the space of three weeks, after beating compatriot S.S.P. Chowrasia in a play-off at the Indian Open on Sunday.

    Script:

Swirling winds made for difficult conditions on the final day of the Indian Open in Delhi. Australia's Marcus Fraser didn't look like he was struggling with this chip but he went on to drop three shots on the back nine to miss out on the play-off group by a stroke.

Sweden's Joakim Lagergren also missed out despite a 69 here, it could have been so different had it not been for his 73 on day three.

In the end it was a shootout between two Indians for the title. Overnight leader S.S.P. Chowrasia had his worst round of the tournament, a 76.

And that gave Anirban Lahiri, who was seven shots behind at the start of the day, a chance, but he had to make this chip on the seventeenth to make par.

You got the feeling it was going to be his day, especially when Chowrasia hit this drive on the first extra hole.

He would go on to bogie and Lahiri sank this 10 footer to take the title.

He'll be getting used to these presentations as this follows his first European Tour win in Malaysia just two weeks ago.
