Seventeenth-seed Karolina Pliskova reached the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Thursday (19th February), after beating Czech comptariot Lucie Safarova, the number eleven seed, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1.

A day after putting out number four seed Ana Ivanovic, Karolina Pliskova was in action again at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The number seventeen seed was up against Czech compatriot Lucie Safarova, who she beat in straight sets in Antwerp at the start of the month.

Safarova claimed the first set here, a single break of serve enough for the number eleven seed to take it 6-3.

Pliskova fought back in the second set and after the pair swapped breaks, it went into a tiebreak.

A fortunate net cord gave Pliskova two set points at 6-4 in the breaker and although Safarova saved the first of them, she couldn't save the second and Pliskova was level.

The deciding set was over all too quickly. After two hours and 26 minutes on court, Pliskova closed out a 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 win.
