Fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska defeated France's Caroline Garcia 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in the second round of the WTA Dubai Tennis Championships on Tuesday (17th February), while Germany's Sabine Lisicki produced little to challenge fourth seed Ana Ivanovic, as the Serbian recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory.

Caroline Wozniacki claimed a place in the third round of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Tuesday (17 February) with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over Samantha Stosur.

Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska took on unseeded Carolina Garcia, with both players looking for a place in the third round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Both players overcame challenging temperatures to advance to the third round, with Garcia providing a tough challenge for the number five seed.

The first set started fairly even before Radwanska won four straight games to claim the set.

With temperatures approaching 32 degrees Celsius, Radwanska looked to succumb to the heat at one point during the second set.

Her French opponent took advantage to win the set, but a recuperated Radwanska rallied back in the third before claiming the set, and the match, with an ace.

Number four seed Ana Ivanovic faced far less of a challenge from her opponent, Sabine Lisicki.

Ivanovic took the first set in emphatic fashion, with Lisicki unable to win a game.

The German managed to take three games in the second set, but Ivanovic easily won to secure a 6-0, 6-3 victory.

Elsewhere Caroline Wozniacki served for the match three times before finally beating Australia's Samantha Stosur in three sets.

Wozniacki has been ill since arriving in Dubai and after losing the first set, the former top-ranked player took a medical time out to have her knee treated.

But she came through with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win.
