Czech Karolina Pliskova and Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro made it through to the BNP Paribas Diamond Games semi-finals in Antwerp on Friday.

Pliskova faced her fellow compatriot Lucie Safarova in the first quarter final. But despite a dip in performace in the beginning, Pliskova managed to fend off 3 break points. After taking the first set into a tiebreak, the number eight seed demonstrated a slice winner to take the lead.

Her fine form continued into the second set. Pliskova established a comfortable 3-love lead with a ferocious backhand and proceeded to win the match 7-6, 6-3.

Fifth seed Carla Suarez Navarro fought a worthy battle against unseeded Franscesca Schiavone.

Navarro was trailing behind 3-1, but gradually began to find her form to eventually stage her comeback with a fierce cross court backhand.

After managing to triumph in the first set 6-3, Navarro's determination continued, and her famous forehand eventually secured her a 6-3 6-2 win to qualify to the semi-finals.
