Fourth seed Stan Wawrinka launched his quest for a World Tennis Tournament title- he took on local wild card Jesse Huta Galung in the first round in Rotterdam

It was Wawrinka's first match at the tournament since 2005, but the victory was not as straightforward as expected.

Galung- ranked 248 in the world took the match to three sets, creating no fewer than 10 break points against his Swiss opponent.

But Wawrinka eventually got the job done with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win, and will next face Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in round two.

Elsewhere after saving two match points in his first-round match against Paul-Henri Mathieu, Grigor Dimitrov was once more in trouble - this time against Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.

The big-serving Muller breezed through the opening set to take it by six games to two,

In the second 37th-ranked Muller showed calm under pressure to win the tiebreak by 10 points to eight and book himself a quarter-final berth. Knocking out the world number 11.
