Niki Terpstra beat Bradley Wiggins and Fabian Cancellara to win the stage three time trial at the Tour of Qatar.

A first chance for Sir Bradley Wiggins to race in his world champion's rainbow jersey at the Tour of Qatar. But after two poor stages he has next to no chance of being a champion here. This was an improvement though, he finished the 10 kilometre course in 14 minutes and 12 seconds. Only two men were faster. One of those was Fabian Cancellara, the Swiss rider was one of the most affected by a splitting field and severe cross winds on stage two, he came in one second quicker than Wiggins here for a job well done.

Last year's winner Niki Terpstra upset the star names though, he clearly loves it here and he coasted round eight seconds faster than Cancellara. As a result, the

Dutchman now leads overall by eleven seconds from Maciej Bodnar and Britain's Ian Stannard - who is a further second back but very much still in the hunt.
