After a disappointing 81st place finish on Sunday, Sir Bradley Wiggins would have been determined to improve on stage two of the Tour of Qatar. In difficult, sometimes sandstorm conditions though he lost even more time. Indeed he would finish in 109th to rule out any chance of an overall win here. Jose Joaquin Rojas won the first stage but he couldn't repeat that on day two. He lost overall lead to the winner of this stage Alexander Kristoff, who led just 15 riders who had a chance in the sprint finish. He saw off the challenge from Andrea Guardini and Greg van Avermaet.
He was presented with no end of gifts on the podium, the one he'll prize most though is the chance to hold on the yellow jersey, he goes into Tuesday's time trial with a one second lead over four-time winner here Tom Boonen.
