  • Intro:

New Zealand beat Australia 17-10 to win the World Rugby Women's Sevens in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Sunday.

    Script:

New Zealand faced Australia in what was set up to be a great final at the second leg of the women's world series sevens in Brazil.

The black ferns went in front through Charlotte Scanlon.

Then Portia Woodman drove over the line the make the score 10-0.

Australia responded Charlotte Caslick was too quick for the New Zealand defence and they were back in it.

From scorer she turned provider as Emilee Cherry ran in the Aussies second try and the scores were level.

It needed a moment of brilliance to win it and it was perhaps fitting that the player of the tournament provided it, Woodman raced 70 metres to score her 13th try of the weekend. That was converted, New Zealand win it 17-10.
