The Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club once again provided the setting for the Malaysian open in 2015.
Scotland's Stephen Gallacher, who finished third last week in the Dubai Desert Classic shot a 3-under par 69 which included this birdie at the 16th - he's level with his European Ryder Cup captain McGinley.
Home player Danny Chia enjoyed a run of four straight birdies from the second and then another at this, the par 4, 7th. Back-to-back bogeys at the 13th and 14th followed though but he still ended day one on five-under after a round of 67
Former U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell carded seven birdies on the par-72 layout, with good signs there early on in his round - this approach to the par 4 second setting himself up for birdie.
Lee Westwood, who romped to a seven-shot victory in last year's tournament, again thrived at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club on Thursday, carding seven birdies on the way to a six-under-par round of 66 including this at the third.
Both him and McDowell's only blemishes coming on the tricky par-four sixth hole - Westwood recovered quickly though to birdie the 7th and this the 9th.
They led a number of low early scores at the tournament, which is co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours
