Reaction after Newcastle United won 3-0 at Hull City in the English Premier League on Saturday (31 January).

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Carver, Newcastle United head coach:

"First half, not a great deal in the game. I thought Tim Krul was outstanding all game, but made a super save in the first half which gave us a little bit of a platform because we go down the other end and take a lead, and there's nothing in the game. We came out in the second half, get that early goal again and then all of a sudden you can see the team.... they grew in confidence, sort of keeping the ball. I'm not happy with the old ways, because you know what it's like, you can go a little bit sloppy with that. But pleased. A good away performance."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Bruce, Hull City manager:

"You can say lack of fight, but I think it's the individual error. I mean for the second goal in particular we must have made five mistakes, and when you're playing against the like of a Newcastle, or any Premier League team, you're going to get punished and make it a difficult afternoon for you. After the second goal went in I've got everybody on the pitch who I think can try and score a goal. So I've got forward thinking players because we're trying to get back into it, but in the end, it turned into one of those awful afternoons which we don't want to see."
