  • Intro:

World number one Rory McIlroy shot a third round 66 on Saturday (31st January) to lead the Dubai Desert Classic in the United Arab Emirates by four shots over Denmark's Morten Orum Madsen.

    Script:

Rory Mcllroy held a one shot lead as the weekend's action got underway in Dubai.

Lee Westwood was a man in form and started the day three shots off Mcllroy.

The Englishmen putting this wedge close to finish off a tidy three under par round to sit at fourteen under for the tournament.

Mcllroy's nearest challenger was Morten Orum Madsen, the Dane carding a bogey free sixty-six, moving to sixteen under after the third round.

Going down the seventh, Mcllroy was already three under for the round, and he would find another birdie to move to four under for the day.

The Northern Irishman would birdie the 8th to go out in 30, however he found himself in trouble at 10th.

Yet he managed to rescue a five for par to remain nineteen under.

He faced a tricky ten footer at the last for par, yet Mcllroy was in impressive form and with it he carded a six under 66 to lead by four going into the final round of the tournament that was the first win of his career.
