Redknapp: We need an away win

Saturday, January 31 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

QPR manager Harry Redknapp welcomed the backing of Tony Fernandes' over his future and said on Friday (30th January) "it's important that the chairman does that, you know, all you want is either someone to back you or sack you" and ahead of their trip to Stoke on Saturday (31st January) added that picking up points away from home had to "start sooner rather than later".

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, QPR manager (On whether he'd like to sign Emmanuel Adebayor)

"He's an excellent player isn't he, you don't play for Arsenal, Real Madrid, Man City and Tottenham if you're not a good player. But I wouldn't see that happening."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, QPR manager (Q: How good was it that Tony Fernandes gave you his backing?)

"Yeah of course it's important that the chairman does that, you know, all you want is either someone to back you or sack you don't you really in that position. It's as simple as that. What else is there to do? I'm not into all this one game (to save your job)."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, QPR manager (Q: What have you been working on over the last two weeks?)

"The players have worked hard, they're fine, they're in good shape. We all know the importance of this game, hoping to get one or two back now, as I say Yun (Suk-Young) coming back will be good and if we get Sandro back quickly as well that's going to be like two new players for us coming in. And if we can add one or two loans to that now it will give us a real, a much better group to work with in the run-in."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, QPR manager (Q:With QPR's poor away form, how much of it is psychological battle?)

"Well it shouldn't be really. We go away from home tomorrow, we know what to expect there. There is going to be a great atmosphere at Stoke, they're very passionate fans there, they get right behind their team, it's a difficult place to go, but we've got to go away from home and pick up some points haven't we. We've got to start sooner rather than later, we need a win or two away from home."

Q: Do you change the approach on the training ground?

"Little bits, little bits, but you know it's about players really isn't it. You can change whatever you want, change what you eat for dinner, whether you go on the coach or the train, you can change everything. But it's about the players really getting on the pitch and performing, that's what it comes down to."
