Louis van Gaal, Manchester United manager on Darren Fletcher: "He is my third captain so I think he is an important guy in the dressing room. I like him as a human being and as a player. So we shall miss him. But he hasn't played so many times and I think always that is the main goal of a player and we have talked about that and he prefers to play. Therefore, we have helped him to go away."

Louis van Gaal, Manchester United manager on Anders Herrera: "You are always asking about the player who is not playing. So three weeks ago, it was Falcao. Next Friday, you ask for the player who is not playing. It is unbelievable. I can only line up eleven players."

Reporter (off mic): He was one of your signings in the summer. He cost the club almost 29 million pounds.

"Yes. But it is not so interesting saying the pounds. It is not so interesting. Because Paddy McNair is also important and he cost nothing. So I am not agreeing with that.

Reporter (off mic): What's he got to do to improve his chances of getting into the side? What's he not doing?

"I am not discussing that with you. Because it is not good that I am discussing in the media about players and that I have said a lot of times."
