Novak Djokovic remains on course for a fifth Australian Open title after beating Milos Raonic in straight sets in Wednesday's (28th January) quarter-finals.

    Script:

It was Novak Djokovic and Milos Raonic's turn to contest their Australian Open quater final, with Raonic looking for his first win over the world number one in what was their fifth career meeting.|

Neither player managed a break of the other's serve in the opening set, but top seed Djokovic edged into a 4-2 lead in the resulting tiebreaker and went on to take it 7-5.

The Serbian then strengthened his grip on proceedings by breaking Raonic's serve in the opening game of the second set.

Djokovic eventually converted that break into a two-set lead, serving it out with a love game.

Number eight seed Raonic, who had endured a five-set examination from Spain's Feliciano Lopez in the fourth round, faltered in the third set, dropping serve twice.

Djokovic pressed home his advantage, sealing a 7-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory while maintaining his record of having not dropped a set at this year's tournament.

Next up for the four-time Australian Open champion is a semi-final meeting with defending champion Stan Wawrinka.
