Intro:
Speaking at the Australian Open on Tuesday (27th January), Michael Chang, Goran Ivanisevic and Ivan Ljubicic discussed why so many successful former tennis players have moved into coaching over the last few years.
Script:
SOUNDBITE: (English) Michael Chang, Kei Nishikori's coach (on how Kei Nishikori is handling the extra attention and pressure on him since his success in 2014):
"I think he's been doing quite well. I think he's been handling it pretty well. I think there's always going to be a little bit of an adjusting period of time and, I think he's going through a little bit of that. At the end of the day, I think when he comes out and walks out onto the court, hopefully he's still just focused on his tennis and there's obviously going to be a lot of things that come along with, doing very well and having success, but that's all part of it. Nobody ever said that being the best tennis players in the world means that you only have to worry about your tennis. It's never that way. So, it's something that he's going to have to learn and at this point of time he's been handling it quite well."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Goran Ivanisevic, Marin Cilic's coach (on former players like himself becoming coaches): "(It was) Bad luck I didn't have somebody like me to coach me when I was.... I should of had Goran to coach Goran, but this Goran to coach that Goran. Probably I would win at least five, six more Grand Slams."
SOUNDBITE (English) Goran Ivanisevic, Marin Cilic's coach (on Marin Cilic's injury situation and how long he will be out for):
"No idea, he is going to take an MRI (scan) today or tomorrow and then we are going to know more. So it's tough to say, it can be two weeks, it can be five weeks, can be.... I don't know, it's really (a) tough question."
SOUNDBITE (English) Ivan Ljubicic, Milos Raonic's coach (on if Milos Raonic is ready to make his first Grand Slam semi-final):
"He's ready. There's no question about if he's ready. He's not satisfied with quarters, that's for sure. He has been in the quarters of the slam already at the French first time, semis in Wimbledon, so he knows what it takes, and now it's all about winning."
