Serena Williams, Garbine Muguruza, quarter finals, Australian Open

    Script:

An Australia Day to remember for Serena Williams as she faced Spaniard Garbine Muguruza in the fourth round of the Australian Open on Monday.

24th seed Muguruza beat Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep last year as well as Williams at the French Open and she threatened to do something similar in Melbourne.

With the opening set poised at 2-2, Muguruza broke in the fifth game before taking the set 6-2.

Despite multiple errors it was the Williams' serve and power that got her out of trouble and eventually saw her win the second set 6-3.

And despite a 13 minute opening game of the third set on Serena's serve, the top seed eventually closed out the set and match 2-6 6-3 6-2.

She'll now face last year's losing finalist - Dominika Cibulkova - in the quarter-finals.
