Novak Djokovic advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open for the ninth consecutive year with a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3, 6-4 win over Fernando Verdasco on Saturday (24th January).

As the sun set over Rod Laver Arena, the crowd had more than the tennis to cheer about on Saturday evening.

A romantic fan choosing the moment to propose to his girlfriend, her positive response receiving an applause from Novak Djokovic himself as well as the Melbourne Park fans.

The Serb top seed then took to the court and quickly asserted his dominance over Fernando Verdasco in the third round encounter.

Djokovic eventually securing the win 7-6 6-3 6-4 to ensure he progresses to the fourth round where he will face Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.

Kei Nishikori didn't have as easy a time as Djokovic however.

The Japanese receiving an early scare against American Steve Johnson as he lost the first set tie-break.

Nishikori quickly regained his composure however, and won three quick-fire set to take the win.

He will face ninth seed David Ferrer in round four.
