Four-time champion Roger Federer is out of the Australian Open after being beaten in the third round by unheralded Italian Andreas Seppi.
The 33-year-old Swiss second seed went down 6-4 7-6 4-6 7-6 to Seppi, who is ranked 46th in the world.
It is the first time in 12 years that Federer has failed to reach at least the semi-finals in Melbourne and extends his run without a Grand Slam title, which stretches back to Wimbledon three years ago.
There was no such shock for Briton Andy Murray, who saw off Joao Sousa in straight sets 6-1 6-1 7-5.
The 27-year-old hit 39 winners to book a last 16 clash with Grigor Dimitrov, where Murray will have the opportunity to avenge last summer's Wimbledon quarter-final defeat at the hands of the Bulgarian.
Murray can make history by winning the first Grand Slam of 2015 as no man has lost three Australian Open finals and returned to win the title.
Dimitrov might have something to say about that. The tenth seed battled past an inspired Marcos Baghdatis to record a 4-6 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-3 success.
