  • Intro:

The New England Patriots react to claims that they deflated 11 balls in the rain-hit 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game. The Patriots' victory booked their place in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks in Phoenix, Arizona, on 1 February.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Slater, New England Patriots:
(He says the need to counter allegations of cheating will not add additional motivation for him to prove the critics wrong at the Super Bowl).
"You know, for me personally, I don't I don't think so, but I can't speak for everyone. I think it may serve as motivation for some, and for others, you know, playing the Super Bowl is motivation enough."

SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Slater, New England Patriots:
(He describes what he expects from the Seattle Seahawks at the Super Bowl).
"Uh, they're gonna be fast, physical. They play the game the right way, it's gonna be a tough game. They've so many good players across the board, so it's gonna be a tough game for us."

SOUNDBITE (English) Kyle Arrington, New England Patriots:
"Uh, well, I'm sure like a lot of guys have probably said, and myself no different, I have nothing to do with that process or anything, uh, of that nature when it comes, you know, to the football. So I can't really comment."

SOUNDBITE (English) Duron Harmon, New England Patriots:
(He describes his initial reaction on hearing about the NFL investigation of the deflated footballs).
"Uh, it was, like, 'Wow.' I mean we win 45-to-7 and the day after we have deal with this. But all you can do is just put it in the rear view and just keep looking forward."

SOUNDBITE (English) Nate Ebner, New England Patriots:
"No, I think we're focused. We know, you know, what we have to do going forward and, uh, you know, we're focused on the task at hand."

SOUNDBITE (English) Nate Ebner, New England Patriots.
(He responds to a question - "What else should we know?")
"Just how hard we're about to put in work this week to put our best performance out there, you know. I think we're all excited about it and, you know, we are lucky to be where we are and we're gonna take full advantage of it and work as hard as we can to get the W."
