The quater-finals of the tournament of Champions saw England's Alison Walters take on world number one Nicol David in New York.

David is the defending champion, but was outplayed by Walters, who was beaten 3-0 in last year's semi-final.

Walters took the first set 11-9, before David powered back to take the second.

But David couldn't capitalise and Walters went on to take the third and fourth sets for a 3-1 win; 11-9, 10-12, 11-7, 11-1.

Waters will play Nour El Sherbini in the last four.

Elsewhere fellow Englishwoman Laura Massaro also put in a resolute performance to make it into the semi-finals.

She stormed back from 2-0 down at Grand Central Station to beat Frenchwoman Camille Serme.

She will now face Egyptian, Raneem El Weleily

Nick Matthew also made it into the semis. The Englishman beat German Simon Rosner 3-1 in his quarter-final match.
