  • Intro:

Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych have all secured first round wins at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

    Script:

Rafael Nadal's confidence will be sky-high following his convincing first round win at the Australian Open.

On the comeback trail following a wrist injury and an appendix operation, the 14-time major winner breezed past Russian veteran Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.

Any signs of his lack of fitness didn't show as he hit 37 winners and held his serve comfortably to progress.

Great Britain's Andy Murray began his quest for an elusive Australian Open title with a win over Yuki Bhambri.

The sixth seed, who has lost three Australian Open finals, was pushed all the way and needed a tiebreak in the third to go through ahead of the Indian qualifier.

Tomas Berdych also had a difficult opener against Alejandro Falla.

The Czech tennis ace showed glimpses of his best form to overcome his Colombian opponent 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.
